This iconic shirt was worn by seasoned legends of the game, the like of  Klinsmann, Voller, Hassler, Effenberg, Matthaus. The group consisted of the defending champions Germany, Bolivia, Spain, and South Korea. Germany won the group and Spain finished second.

In the final, after a scoreless regulation and overtime, Brazil defeated Italy on penalty kicks 3-2 to become the first country to win four World Cup titles. World Cup matches were played at nine venues — the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. This was the year Bulgaria knocked Germany out and ended hopes of a title defence. The result was a shock to the system for Germany, who had not returned home before the semi-finals since the 1962 World Cup. Die Mannschaft were far from their best in the USA. Yet few expected anything but Germany and their winning machine to overawe Bulgaria.
